Items to be prepared
There are only several items that we will need in this particular 3D animal cell project. You need to buy a light colored gelatin although it is more recommended for you to use a colorless gelatin. You also need water and various sugars or confections in to be used as the organelles. Plastic bag such as zip lock bags are needed in order to make the gelatin. You will also need stove to heat the gelatin. Or, you can use a microwave for an easier access. The last one is you need a cooler or refrigerator to set the Jell-O.
Let’s begin the step in making jelly 3D animal cell project by cooking the gelatin with slightly smaller amount of water than it is said in the sachet. Don’t forget to add sugar or sweet juice in case you or your kids would want to eat them. After that, pour it into the zip lock bag to cool, this will make it easier for you to pour out the Jell-O later when it has set. Put into the refrigerator for an hour or so until it is slightly set but not too set.
After you put it for an hour in the fridge, it is time to pull it out and open the zip lock. All the sugars and confectioneries that you bought will be the organelles inside the jelly. Stuck them in and arrange according to the real picture of the cell. For instance you can use candies like gummy bean or gummy worm as organelles such as mitochondria or the nucleus. Once they are all put in, put it back in the fridge and wait until it set completely. Once they are set and sturdy, you can pour them out and then voila, you have a 3D animal cell project that you can eat.
