Cell Diagram Plant, Parts And Functions

Eukaryotes are the more complex cell diagram plant, animals, protozoan, fungi, algae, and water molds. Plant cells are unique as they have their own specializations though there are many similar characteristics among eukaryotic cells. Here are some main features of plant cells which make them different from other eukaryotes.




Cell Diagram Plant Cell Wall

There are mainly structural carbohydrates that form protective cell walls in plant cells. Cells can maintain its shape, get support, and control the amount of water inside thanks to the cell wall. Cell walls are also available on fungi, bacteria, and some protists not just in cell diagram plant. Yet, mold and bacteria’s cell walls do not have what plant cell walls have including the hemicelluloses and cellulose carbohydrates that form them and three structural layers available (an external main cell wall, the middle lamella or a gluey pectin layer, and a minor cell wall near the plasma membrane).



Central Vacuole

Most of the room inside a plant cell consists of central vacuole. The central vacuole has the tonoplast membrane that helps to hold water and other molecules necessary for the cell. If the water is full, the vacuole compresses the other cell parts toward the cell’s borders.


There is green pigment chlorophyll inside cell diagram plant that captures sunlight energy that helps the process of photosynthesis to produce food for the cell called chloroplasts. They are typical to plant cells with just one kind of plastid organelle. These plastids help to store food and contain diverse types of pigments that give plants various colors not just green.


There is genome or genetic material inside the nucleus. Nucleoplasm is liquid inside the nucleus and may contain protein that synthesizes the parts of the cell called ribosomes and RNA (ribonucleic acid) in nucleoli.

Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)

ER is system of void tubes expanding off the nuclear membrane. There are two types of ER, the rough ER that synthesize protein molecules and is studded with ribosomes, and smooth ER that help producing and transporting lipids and contain no ribosomes.


Vesicles are small organelles of membrane spheres that transport substances inside or out of the cell. They can be bound to plasma membrane or floating in cell diagram plant.


Lysosomes are special type of vesicle produced by the Golgi apparatus that breaks down macrobiotic materials thanks to enzymes it contains. They help digesting and recycling damaged cellular parts in cell diagram plant.
