Animals and plants are physically different. They have different organs and limbs. When it comes to the animal and plant cells, they mostly are the same with slight difference. Here are the similarity and difference between animal and plant in cellular level.
Human and all animals’ body contain heaps of cells so they are multicellular. They are almost similar animal and plant cells. All animal cells are enclosed by cell membrane or eukaryotic, and they do not have a cell wall. The animal cells components include flagella and cilia, centrioles, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, microfilaments, lysosomes, microtubules, nucleus, mitochondria, peroxisomes, ribosomes and plasma membrane.
Plant cell are membrane surrounding organelles or eukaryotic cells. A rigid cell wall surrounds the organelles. Being eukaryotic and having cell organelles make plant cells are similar to animal cells. Normally, plant cells are cube or rectangular shaped and animal and plant cells are typically similar in size and are bigger than animal cells. Large vacuole, a cell wall, and plastids are some distinctive features of plant cell.
Structure of a Plant Cell
Cell membrane or the plasma membrane encloses all other cell organelles which is the semipermeable outer lining of the cell. It allows only specific molecules to pass through and blocking others. Cell wall is primarily made up of cellulose which is a rigid layer that surrounds the plant cells located outside the cell membrane. This is the main difference between animal and plant cells. Cytoplasm fills the cell as the fluid substance where the cell organelles suspended inside. Nucleus directs Most of the activities of the cell which is a membrane round in shape, destined organelle.
Nuclear membrane is surrounding the nucleus as the permeable double membrane layer with canals for substances. Nucleoplasm holds the genetic substantial and the nucleolus as a semi-fluid substance inside the nucleus. Mitochondria provide food and energy to cells by converting of glucose to great energy substance. They are basically similar function between animal and plant cells.
Anatomy of an Animal Cell
Cell membrane covers all cells to regulate the movement of materials within cell and protects the cell. Cell Wall is not available in animal cell making it the key difference between animal and plant cells. Endoplasmic reticulum makes lipids and other materials with the form of a membrane bound organelle. The most abundant and the smallest cell organelles are the ribosomes which help to produce proteins for the cell to live.
