Level the ground and install deck piers to support the small outdoor storage shed
You are allowed by the piers in order to string support beams which are located beneath the floor of the small outdoor storage shed. For instance, you can use the piers which are spaced 6 feet apart in one direction and 4 feet apart in the other for a total grid section of 12 X 8 feet. This is very perfect because after you lay supports along the grid, three standard 4 by 8 foot plywood sheets will be taken in order to cover it.
Beams are supported by string across the deck piers
Your floor joists will be supported by this which runs in the opposite direction. The simplest and easiest way in order to attach beams to the piers is by using metal straps that have built-in nail holes.
Joists should be attached in order to support beams and separate them by using blocking
First of all, you have to attach a rim joist along the outer edge of every outermost support beam; every of these have to be the same length as the beam underneath. And then, you have to install a series of floor joists across the whole length of the support beams; these are going to need to be the same length as the distance which is located between the two rim joints so that they are going to fit between them.
To form the floor, nail plywood sheeting to the joists
If it is possible for you, you can use H-clips in order to nail the sheets into place. H-clips fit between two pieces of plywood and you have to lock them together in order to get additional structural strength. For instance, you can use two standard sheets of 4 by 8 foot plywood which are used whole and a third is sawn in half and used to fill in the 4-foot difference on either end. There are no additional cuts or adjustments that you have to do because of the spacing of the joists, support beams and the piers. You have to consider that the pieces of plywood are misaligned so that the floor does not have a single seam which is running across the entire thing that would be very important structural weakness.
